One Planet was founded and is run by Dave Knight, a pioneering and experienced practitioner who has worked exclusively in sustainable business and corporate responsibility for over 20 years and briefly in renewable energy before that.
A networked organisation, we work with trusted individuals and partner organisations in order to provide the skills and experience that client projects require. If we don’t have all the skills we feel we need to complete a task, we know people who have.
Dave Knight is driven by an impatient desire for transformation change. He believes huge opportunities are here for those companies willing to adjust business models to recognise the scale and speed of change required to put us on a more sustainable path.
Dave has spent over 18 years working internationally, across multiple industries at the interface of business and society. An entrepreneur, Dave is a founder of a number of companies including One Planet Ltd., Two Tomorrows Ltd and Sd3 Ltd. He has also headed up DNV GL’s USA & Canada Sustainability practice. He holds an MSc (distinction) in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London.
Dave works to demonstrate how sustainability challenges, the digital revolution and changing global expectations can drive positive innovation and business performance. A Lead Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner, his experiences include: innovative assessment and assurance approaches; the development of corporate sustainability strategies; linking science to practice; human including children’s right’s; training; communication and reporting.
Recent clients include UNICEF, Kimberly-Clark, Prologis, Millicom, The Coca Cola Company and major technology companies. Recent project work includes; leading a risk assessment of children’s rights within the telecommunications distribution chain, developing responsible sourcing frameworks, leading environmental and social compliance auditing in the ICT sector and helping draft and contribute to various reports for UNEP. He has contributed to the WBCSD Action 2020 plans, a white paper on assurance for the IIRC and a review of the UNGC on its 15th anniversary.
Dave writes, presents, trains and advises on principles-based sustainable business approaches and is a member of the UNICEF CSR advisory group. He has designed and delivered training programmes in Europe, Asia and the US and has spoken at many CR conferences and events. He drafted the summary of ‘The Business Case for the Green Economy’ for UNEP which was launched at Rio+20 and can be accessed via this link
